Sandakan firemen rescue toddler trapped in car

ANN/THE STAR – Firemen came to a toddler’s rescue who accidentally locked himself in a car parked opposite a shop at Batu 7, Labuk Jaya in Sandakan, Sabah yesterday.

In a statement from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department, the three-year-old boy was successfully reunited with his parents after being trapped in the car for 20 minutes. A team of eight men from the Sandakan station’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit was dispatched to the scene after a distress call was received at 10.37am.

Firemen used special equipment to pry the door open, completing the task within eight minutes.

The victim was in stable condition when rescued.

The operation was called off at 10.55am, after ensuring the situation was safe.
