Safety first for Belait company

Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) organised a two-day Incident Command System 300 Workshop and Major Desktop Drill exercise at Bridex in Jerudong as part of the Workplace Safety and Health Order 2009.

The objective of this exercise was to test and evaluate the readiness and emergency response capabilities of BMC’s Crisis Management Team members and Incident Command Team, as well as the unification of command from the Lumut Liang Industrial Area-Integrated Emergency Response Committee (LLIA-IERC), District Disaster Management Centre and National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) in handling real-life emergency situations. BMC is currently the Chair of LLIA-IERC, and it is imperative to have a coordinated response from all stakeholders in preparation for any incidents or emergency situations.

Thirteen agencies comprising government and private sector agencies were involved in the exercise – Emergency Medical Ambulance Services; Fire and Rescue Department; Royal Brunei Police Force; NDMC; Belait District Office; Safety, Health and Environment National Authority; Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam; Internal Security Department; and stakeholders.
