A delegation of 31 officials from the Sabah Syariah Justice Department visited the Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar on Tuesday.
The officials in the country for a working visit.
Chief Syarie Judge at the Sabah Syariah Justice Department Ahadin bin Arinen led the delegation. Also present was a representative of the Chief Syarie Judge at the Malaysian Syariah Justice Department, Mohamad Shakir bin Haji Abdul Hamid.
Chief Syarie Judge Ahadin said in an interview that they hope to establish bilateral ties between the Sabah Syariah Justice Department and other institutions in the Sultanate that handle matters involving Islamic Law, including the Syariah Court and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
He hopes for further cooperation and dialogue, noting that they believe there are a number of common issues that Brunei and Malaysia can work together on, including marriages involving Malaysian and Bruneian citizens as well as the presentation of court documents, summons and implementations of court orders and other aspects of Islamic law. – Lyna Mohamad
