(ANN/THE KOREA HERALD/YONHAP) – A civic group in South Korea said Monday it has filed a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission against Apple Inc. over alleged violation of advertising laws regarding its artificial intelligence feature in the iPhone 16 smartphone.
The Seoul YMCA reported that the complaint was filed due to the omission of the AI Siri feature in the iOS 18 operating system for Apple’s latest smartphone model, which was launched in the country in September.
The feature had initially been promised to be included in the iOS 18 system for the iPhone 16 but was subsequently delayed for a future release.
The group claimed that Apple has removed related advertisements from YouTube, stirring doubts that the company was aware of the delay in advance yet proceeded to market the product without disclosing such information.
“We will closely monitor the investigation process and results, and take further action if necessary,” the group said.
