A total of BND45,000 was raised at the AIA One Billion Run 2024, held on Sunday morning at the Jerudong Park Colonnade, with proceeds supporting autism awareness initiatives. Over 500 enthusiastic participants gathered for the event, which aimed to promote fitness, community spirit, and inclusivity, coinciding with Brunei’s 40th National Day celebrations.
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah also took part in the run, showing her support for the event’s mission to raise awareness about autism.
The Community Development Department (JAPEM) under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Acting Director Pengiran Siti Saihalina binti Pengiran Haji Md Daud was present as the guest of honour to officiate the event and flagged off the participants.
Also in attendance were officials from JAPEM, representatives from supporting sponsors, and senior executives from AIA Brunei.
In his address, AIA’s Country Manager, Kenneth Ling, highlighted the company’s ambitious goal through the AIA One Billion initiative to engage one billion people to live “Healthier, Longer, Better Lives” by 2030. As Asia’s largest life and health insurer, AIA is committed to improving wellness across the region and promoting a sustainable future.
“Through the generosity of participants, sponsors, and volunteers, we’ve collectively made a real difference in the lives of those in need,” Ling remarked.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Learning Ladders Society and SMARTER Brunei.
Donations were presented to the founder of Learning Ladders Society Dr Sharina Yunus and the President of SMARTER Brunei Pengiran Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Bujang.
The AIA One Billion Run 2024 successfully brought the community together in a meaningful effort to support autism awareness and promote healthier lives, reinforcing AIA’s commitment to building a more inclusive society. – Fadley Faisal
