Rubbish dumping sparks concern in Kampong Serusop

As a resident of Kampong Serusop, I am writing to express my growing concern over the indiscriminate disposal of rubbish, including plastic waste, in my area as depicted in the photo accompanying this letter.

This issue has not only become an eyesore but also contributes to significant environmental and public health problems in the community.

The accumulation of waste is not merely an aesthetic issue; it actively pollutes the surrounding area, threatening local ecosystems. Of greater concern is the clogging of drainage systems due to waste buildup.

The stagnant water can lead to the breeding of mosquitoes and other insects.

It is disheartening to witness such disregard for cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

I urge the public to adopt better waste management practices by using designated rubbish disposal areas. I am aware that the authorities are doing their best to curb illegal dumping, but I urge them to step up enforcement against illegal dumping, like increasing the fines.

Preserving the environment is a shared responsibility. Let us work together to create a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community.
