Radio Television Brunei (RTB) ran its 15th Jalinan Kasih project yesterday as part of an annual initiative to reach out to families needing assistance.

Representatives from RTB made their way to the Belait District to hand over necessities and cash aid to five families after the launch was held in the Brunei-Muara District.

Families of orphans, senior citizens and individuals with different abilities were among the recipients of the charitable drive.

Assistant Head of Radio Programmes, Muhammad Alim bin Sani led the group with representatives from the local companies; Bahagia Distributors Sdn Bhd (TGT, BMC, Pearl Cafe), Hamitan Group, McDonald’s Brunei (Makan Ceria Sdn Bhd), Radisson Hotel, Stoneville Hotel Temburong, Sim Kim Huat Trading Co Sdn Bhd, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, and Al Hayaah Enterprise.

The Jalinan Kasih project was held as part of its corporate social responsibility aimed to support the aspiration of creating a better life for the less fortunate nationwide.

“We also work closely with relevant agencies as well as the district branches of RTB to identify those who are in need,” said Muhammad Alim, adding that they have been in close communication with mukim penghulus and village heads in Belait to start the programme.

As the project enters its 15th year, he hopes the contributions will help to lessen their burden.

“We hope to continue this annual tradition, with the project next year slated to be held much earlier in the year as well as to increase the number of recipients,” he added.
