Royalty launch Brunei’s first special needs school

Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School – the first school dedicated to special needs students in Brunei Darussalam, was officially launched on Thursday, along with its state-of-the-art surau’s inauguration.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, as the guest of honour, officiated the school’s opening and the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Surau at Kampong Bengkurong.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam; Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah as Chairperson of Pusat Ehsan and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar, as well as the patron of Pusat Ehsan Datin Paduka Seri Hajah Mariam binti Haji Abdul Aziz.

Also present at the ceremony were cabinet ministers as well as member of the Diplomatic Corps and invited guests. Pusat Ehsan in a press release said that the launch represents a significant milestone in the country’s educational landscape and reinforces its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in education. – JAMES KON
