Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah took part in The Alpha Challenge 2022 along the vicinity of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in Jalan Tungku Link yesterday.
Also participating in the event was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Mu’min.
Brunei Darussalam’s running specialist Samsul Zamri emerged champion in the male solo category after clocking a time of 44:09s.
Meanwhile, Cecilia Maksimon clinched the female solo category title after clocking a time of 1:16:03s.
Dynamo Fury ‘A’ topped the male team category with a time of 53:21s while The Gorillas were announced winners in the female team category after a combined time of 1:16:44s.
The Dynamo Fury ‘A’ team comprise Muhammad Haziq Syazwan, Razali bin Sabli, Pengiran Muhd Amirrul bin Pengiran Damit, Muhd Norisman bin Ismail and Mastani bin Mohd Yussop.
The Gorillas members include Nurseha Alea Abdullah, Airince Liam, Bay Luke, Vanessa Gomez and Shazana Hamiroldzam.
The Alpha Challenge 2022 opening ceremony was officiated by Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud.
Managing Director of D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd Jackson Ting also presented a token of appreciation.
The event featured two main categories being contested – 10K Beta Challenge and the 5.7K Fun Run Omega Challenge.
This year’s edition started with a Beta Trial Roadshow held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the capital last October.
It served as a preview for participants who were able to test certain obstacles.
The routes for the two categories yesterday involved physically challenging obstacles designed to push participants to their limits.
Over 1,800 participants registered for the event, with teams and individual winners for the competitive 10K Beta Challenge announced at the prize presentation ceremony.
The Sultanate’s leading obstacle challenge, was organised by D’Sunlit and supported by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
