In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan), a Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim was held at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik as the Chairman of the Yayasan Committee of Governors was present at the religious gathering.
Present to greet His Royal Highness upon arrival were State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned as the Deputy Chairman II of the Yayasan Committee of Governors, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors and Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as Deputy Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors.
The recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil was led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Metassan bin Haji Tahir. Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was established with the consent of His Majesty on October 5, 1992 in conjunction with the silver jubilee celebration of the monarch’s accession to the throne.
The establishment of Yayasan is a platform of donation and charity of His Majesty and members of the royal family as a sign of care of His Majesty towards the people and to shape a prosperous and harmonious community. Prior to this, Yayasan held a Doa Kesyukuran at An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Complex to mark 30 years of its establishment on October 5.
Members of the Yayasan Board of Directors, members of Board of Trustees of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, officers and staff of Yayasan, alumni members of Sultan’s Scholars and volunteers as well as village residents of Kampong Bolkiah ‘A’ and Kampong Bolkiah ‘B’ housing schemes were also present.
