His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration yesterday.
The event was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, marking the 20th edition of the celebration.
Accompanying Their Majesties were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.
Also attending were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.
On arrival, Their Majesties and members of the royal family were greeted by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar as the Deputy Chairman I of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as member of the Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister at the Prime
Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as the Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as Deputy Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors, and Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan.
The event commenced with the recitation of Doa Selamat, led by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned. Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi meanwhile delivered his welcoming address.
His Majesty then delivered a titah. The ceremony also saw a video presentation on ‘Membangun Generasi Pemimpin: Membudayakan Belia Pemedulian dan Prihatin’, which showcased active involvement of students in voluntary and community activities to address social development issues in line to support the Brunei Vision 2035. The video featured a special segment containing a collection of sabda delivered by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince
‘Abdul Mateen, which have encouraged youth to take on the roles of contributing time and energy to community programmes. The gathering also featured a stage performance by 165 students of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) School.
The theme, Membudayakan Belia Pemedulian dan Prihatin, aimed to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism and community engagement among the youth. Some 750 students from 12 higher learning institutions, as well as a number of youth volunteers, were invited to exhibit their efforts in community work.
Yayasan also exhibited programmes involving youth participation in line with its goal of enhancing youth involvement in community development.
Their Majesties then signed a commemorative parchment as well as portrait produced by the Centre of Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Studies of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. – Rokiah Mahmud
