His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office attended the Singapore Premier League (SPL) 2024/2025 match between DPMM FC and Lion City Sailors at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim were also present.
The restart of the SPL campaign this season saw DPMM FC lose 4-2 to Lion City Sailors who boosted their title hopes.
Prior to the match, DPMM head coach Jamie McAllister spoke on his side’s new signings while Lion City Sailors’ head coach Aleksandar Rankovic expected to face a different look DPMM FC especially with the additions of the two new foreign imports.
The Gegar Gegar men are playing their first competitive match of the new year following the winter break and the resumption of the SPL season.
DPMM FC, placed sixth prior to the start of the match, will be hoping to finish the second half of the season strongly.
The two-time Singapore league winners have made reinforcements in both the defence and attack after roping in the services of Icelandic defender Damir Muminovic and Latvian forward Davis Ikaunieks.
With both players winning major honours during their European spells, the team will hope that their experience can carry them to new heights.
The Brunei-based outfit have also brought MS ABDB forward Hariz Danial Khallidden and Kasuka FC’s Wafi Aminuddin, both of whom made the substitutes’ bench last night. – Fadhil Yunus
