His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to inaugurate the opening of Kampong Junjongan Mosque on Friday.
Also present was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Upon arrival, His Majesty consented to sign a decorative plaque before entering the prayer hall where he joined residents and people of the village in performing Friday prayers.
The move of the new establishment of the mosque was well received by community leaders citing convenience of accommodating a large group of people.
Kampong Junjongan Village Head Haji Ahmad Shah Tamami bin Haji Timbang conveyed his gratitude to His Majesty for granting the construction of the new mosque.
He added, “Before this, there was also a mosque in the community but smaller in size, which is not able to accommodate worshippers from the village, leading them to pray in neighbouring mosques such as Kampong Limau Manis Mosque and Kampung Lumapas Mosque.
He hopes that with the establishment of the mosque, residents of the village can help with the improvement of the mosque.
The village head shared that among the facilities of the mosque include prayer space for women besides the main prayer hall; multipurpose rooms; ablution areas as well as mortuary management room; an office for imam as well as VIP space. – Fadhil Yunus
