Royalty grace event marking National Day

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined congregants at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday for a Kesyukuran ceremony to mark the 38th National Day.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin lhsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin in his capacity as the Chairman of the 38th National Day Celebration Executive Committee and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, as well as other event committee members.

His Majesty and royal family members joined the mass Maghrib prayer led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, who also led the Sunnat Hajat prayer and a mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin. The Doa Kesyukuran was also read by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim.

The Azan for the Isyak prayer was performed by Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque Officer Begawan Mudim Haji Abdul Latif bin Haji Saman and the mass Isyak prayer was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Suhaili binHaji Mohiddin.

Similar events were also held nationwide in mosques, suraus and religious halls.

Focal point mosques in Brunei-Muara District were Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong, Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop, Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong, Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Kebun, Setia Ali Mosque in Pekan Muara and Perpindahan Lambak Kanan Mosque.

In Belait District, the focal points were Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque, and Pekan Seria Mosque.

For Tutong District, it was at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque and for Temburong District it was at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar.

The theme for this year’s National Day celebration is ‘Accomplishing the National Vision’.
