Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman attended a premier talk as part of the Knowledge Convention 2023 at the International Convention Centre (ICC) yesterday.
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam were also in attendance.
Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah was welcomed on arrival by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
This year’s Knowledge Convention carries the theme, ‘Nationwide Munajat with Repentance’, a follow-up to the previous event that emphasises on well-being, peace and mental health.
Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah, in her welcoming remarks, said education and knowledge are catalysts that spark intellectual interest, nourishes critical thinking, and instils values that shape individual character.
She said, “Knowledge serves as the cornerstone on which dreams are built and aspirations achieved. Beyond the individual sphere, the impact of education and knowledge can shine out, embroidering the fine threads that bind society and country,” she said.
“Knowledgeable individuals not only contribute meaningfully to the national workforce but are also actively involved in the daily life of the community and can drive positive change.
“Knowledgeable people form the solid foundation of an informed and engaged society, which strives for progress, equality, and justice. Therefore, the transformative power of knowledge is not only limited to personal achievements but creates a ripple effect that elevates the entire society and country.”
Senior Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Usuluddin and Assistant Rector of Student Affairs and Alumni at the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Dr Hajah Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu spoke on the importance of Munajat in daily life during her talk.
“Munajat, which covers the recitation of Zikir, is hoped to be a cure and therapy for troubled hearts, enabling pious acts to be carried out properly as ways to seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty. Heart is the driver and we are behind the wheel that drives us towards betterment,” she said. – Azlan Othman
