Royal wedding comes to an end

The royal wedding of the daughter of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar ibni His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah that began on January 8, was officially closed with the Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman and Assana’.

In the afternoon, the ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman was carried out in the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz. It began with Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the ceremony was ready to begin.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan was then instructed to confer to His Majesty and sought His Majesty’s consent for the ceremony to commence.

After receiving the consent, he then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that His Majesty had consented for the ceremony to begin.

Four Awang-Awang then entered the hall to place the lighted dian empat followed with three Awang-Awang carrying the surat zikir, bantal geguling and pebarahan and placed them at the designated spot.

The Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga ceremony then continued with the Dikir Syarafil Anam and at the “Ya Habibi” verse it followed with 21 shots of the cannon.

The Awang-Awang entered the hall with the anchit containing perfume to be sprinkled on the palms of the guests.

This then followed with the recitation of Doa Zikir by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hamidon and while the Doa was being recited, the Awang-Awang returned to the hall to present the kurnia sampul surat to those present.

To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz.

Following the Doa Selamat, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the ceremony had been duly carried out.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan was then instructed to seek consent from His Majesty to bring the ceremony to a close.

After receiving the consent, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that His Majesty had consented for the ceremony to close.

During the ceremonies at Istana Nurul Iman and Assana’, all the royal regalia were brought down at the Balai Pemajangan as soon as the cannon shots were fired.

Earlier in the morning, the Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga ceremony were held at Assana’ in Jerudong and was graced by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah was greeted upon arrival by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Ratna Wijaya Brigadier General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Hasnan and was ushered to a special room at Assana’.

The ceremony began with Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim that the ceremony was ready to proceed.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim then instructed Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar to seek an audience with His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah for the ceremony to start.

After receiving the consent, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim then instructed for the ceremony to start.

The ceremony commenced with Dikir Syarafil Anam and at the “Ya Habibi” verse it followed with 17 shots of the cannon.

The Awang-Awang entered the hall carrying the anchit containing perfume to be sprinkled on the palms of the guests.

This was followed by the recitation of Doa Zikir read by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hamidon while Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim read the Doa Selamat.

Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim that the ceremony had been duly carried out, who then asked him to seek an audience with His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah for the ceremony to close.

Present at both ceremonies were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, members of councils, deputy ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang and Pedalaman, heads of foreign missions, permanent secretaries and heads of government departments.
