Royal wedding celebrations come to a close

The 10-day long ceremonies marking the royal wedding of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam officially came to an end following Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga at lstana Nurul Iman yesterday.

The ceremony began with the arrival of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet ministers, members of the Legislative Council, deputy ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang and Manteri-Manteri Pedalaman, members of the diplomatic corps, high commissioners, permanent secretaries and other guests. This was followed by the entry of the Pehin-Pehin Khatib, Begawan-Begawan Pehin Khatib, Mudim-Mudim and Begawan-Begawan Mudim.

The ceremony commenced with Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan seeking consent to inform Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga was in place to proceed.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan was then instructed to confer and sought His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s consent for the ceremony to commence.

After receiving the consent, he informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that His Majesty had consented for the ceremony to begin.

Four Awang-Awang then entered the hall to place the four lighted dian, followed with three Awang-Awang carrying surat zikir, bantal geguling and pebarahan, which were then placed at the designated spots.

The ceremony then continued with Dikir Syarafil Anam followed by 21 shots of the cannon.
Awang-Awang entered the hall with anchit containing perfume to be sprinkled on the palms of the guests.

It was followed by the recitation of Doa Zikir by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hamidon. Awang-Awang then returned to the hall to present kurnia sampul surat to those in attendance.

To bless the ceremony, Doa Selamat was read by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the ceremony had been duly carried out.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan was then instructed to seek consent from His Majesty to bring the ceremony to a close.

After receiving the consent, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that His Majesty had consented for the ceremony to close.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz then instructed for the ceremony to close.

During the ceremony at Istana Nurul Iman, all the royal regalia were brought down at Balai Pemajangan as soon as the cannon shots were fired. – Adib Noor
