His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja between His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.
The ceremony was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital yesterday.
Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
Also at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
His Majesty’s entry into the mosque was led by Panglima Diraja carrying pemuras and karga, while Panglima Asgar carried kelasak and kampilan, accompanied by Pembawa-Pembawa Alat-Alat Perhiasan Tunggal, Perhiasan Empat Duli Yang Teramat Mulia-Duli Yang Teramat Mulia and Perhiasan Empat Duli-Duli Wazir.
His Majesty was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar and Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
After performing Sunnat Tahyatul Masjid prayer, His Majesty and members of the royal family seated at the designated area.
The arrival of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen to the mosque was led by 40 sinipit carried by Awang-Awang, two Hulubalang comprising Hulubalang Diraja carrying pemuras and karga and Hulubalang Asgar carrying the kelasak and kampilan and dian tunggal carried by Awang-Awang, followed by Perhiasan Empat Duli Yang Teramat Mulia accompanied by a delegation.
The delegation also consisted royal regalia carried by Awang-Awang, comprising 16 pedang and perisai (swords and shields), 16 tumbak benderangan (lances) and eight kabok and penastan.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris and Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen then seated on a kasur namat with ceremonial candles called dian empat placed on each corner.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, dressed in traditional white royal wedding attire, faced Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, who was entrusted to conduct the Akad Nikah ritual.
The ceremony commenced with Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the ceremony was ready to take place, who in turn informed His Majesty.
Soon after His Majesty consented for the ceremony to commence, Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim conducted the Akad Nikah.
Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim read the solemnisation sermon and elaborated on the vows and the groom’s undertaking of royal union in lifelong love and companionship.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen affirmed his acceptance of the Akad Nikah and later signed the solemnisation form. Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim and the four witnesses of the solemnisation also signed the document.
Outside the mosque, a 17-gun salute was fired to mark the conclusion of the ritual.
A Doa Selamat was read by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen then performed Junjung Ziarah on His Majesty and members of the royal family. His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen also received a Junjung Ziarah from the father of the bride, Awang Adam bin Abdullah.
Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Adanan then informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris that the Majlis Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja had concluded, who in turn informed His Majesty.
His Majesty then consented for the ceremony to end, before leaving the mosque with members of the royal family. – Rokiah Mahmud
