Royal couple officially solemnised

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Thursday afternoon graced the Istiadat Nikah Diraja or the royal solemnisation ceremony.

The Istiadat Nikah Diraja was between His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, and Yang Mulia Dayang Anisha Rosnah binti Adam.

The ceremony was held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Also gracing the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar conducted the ‘Akad Nikah’ ritual.

Seated on a special mat called ‘Kasur Namat’ that was flanked with four ceremonial candles called ‘Dian Empat placed on each corner, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen was handsomely dressed in traditional white royal wedding attire and affirmed the acceptance of the ‘Akad Nikah’; or marriage solemnisation.

A 17-gun salute was fired to mark the conclusion of the ‘Istiadat Akad Nikah Pengantin Diraja’.
