His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
The Hungarian minister is on an official visit to the Sultanate.
During the audience, His Majesty and the Hungarian minister reaffirmed the two nations’ commitment to strengthening the existing bonds of friendship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992.
His Majesty and the minister also touched on matters of developing bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Hungary such as education cooperation, in particular the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship between the two governments on May 16 this year.
Discussions also included the strengthening of cooperation through the ASEAN-EU dialogue relations.
Accompanying the minister was Ambassador of Hungary to Brunei Darussalam with residence in Singapore Judit Pach. Also present was Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.
