Royal applause for Yayasan’s efforts

In the three decades since its establishment, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) as a foundation has undergone various developments while improving the socio-economic status and well-being of the people.

This was said by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of Yayasan Board of Governors, in a sabda while chairing the first board meeting of the year at An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Complex in the capital yesterday.

His Royal Highness expressed hopes that Yayasan will continue to be proactive, creative and adaptive when planning and carrying out new projects that aim to encourage self-reliance in the communities.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness requested a progress report on achievements and outcomes under the Yayasan Strategic Plan 2020-2025 and emphasised on the need for continuous monitoring of the developments to ensure they remain relevant to the present climate.

His Royal Highness also inquired about the progress and developments of the foundation’s main projects that had been discussed in previous meetings.

On the Yayasan Complex under the management of Wadah Amal Sdn Bhd, His Royal Highness touched on the vacant shop lots and asked if efforts have been made to attract tenants.

His Royal Highness then brought up the house repair works in Kampong Bolkiah, which are currently being carried out, while inquiring efforts that have been made to boost the socio-economic status of its residents.

While His Royal Highness applauded Yayasan’s Centre of Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Studies for its growing popularity among the public, as evident in the increasing number of visitors, His Royal Highness also inquired the board on the centre’s mid- to long-term plans in producing a workforce skilled in Islamic calligraphy and arts.

Earlier, on arrival at the event, His Royal Highness was welcomed by Chief of Adat Isitadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, as Deputy Chairman I of Yayasan Board of Governors; State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, as Deputy Chairman II of Yayasan Board of Governors; and board members Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman; and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.

Also present were Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, as Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as Deputy Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors; and Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as Yayasan Acting Managing Director. – Rokiah Mahmud
