Roundtable in Australia shares investment opportunities in Sultanate

The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) recently held a roundtable meeting on investment and business opportunities at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour Hotel in Sydney, Australia, for potential investors comprising company representatives from sectors including renewable energy, technology, business transformation and industrial infrastructure.

The meeting provided an overview of the business landscape in the Sultanate, priority sectors identified under the Economic Blueprint for Brunei Darussalam, and investment facilitation services offered by BEDB.

The seminar began with an address by BEDB Acting Chief Executive Officer Daniel Leong, followed by remarks by High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Australia Garry Ramlee bin Ibrahim. A presentation on business opportunities in Brunei Darussalam was delivered by the FDI Action & Support Centre (FAST).

The presentation also touched on the country’s efforts to develop the downstream oil and gas, food, maritime and logistics sector, and showcased the emerging linkages and connectivity between the BIMP-EAGA region and North Asia.

A presentation was also given by Muara Port Company relating to its services, facilities and expansion plans, as well as its role in facilitating the movement of goods.

The roundtable meeting comes a day after the agency’s participation at the Australia-ASEAN Business Forum at the Sydney International Convention and Exhibition Centre, an event aimed to enhance economic and trade linkages between the two regions. – James Kon
