In conjunction with the World Polio Day, the Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan organised a hiking event on Thursday at Dadap Recreation Park to raise awareness for the global “End Polio Now” campaign, an initiative spearheaded by Rotary International.
Led by Clement Yong, the End Polio Now (EPN) Regional Chair for Brunei, the event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle while highlighting ongoing efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.
“We hope the polio disease will be eradicated soon. We can all play our part by promoting this event to create greater awareness in eradicating this disease completely,” said Yong.
Observed on October 24, World Polio Day is celebrated globally to commemorate the progress made in combating polio and to emphasise the need for continued efforts to eliminate the disease entirely.
Rotary International’s “End Polio Now” campaign has played a pivotal role in reducing polio cases around the globe through vaccination initiatives and awareness efforts. The Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan’s event was a local effort in solidarity with the global movement, encouraging the public to join in the cause for a polio-free world.
