Rookie girl group Babymonster draws record viewers

(ANN/KOREA HERALD) — Babymonster, the latest sensation under YG Entertainment, has shattered records with their debut single’s music video.

Within just 24 hours of its release, the video for “Batter Up” amassed  22.5 million views on YouTube, marking a new milestone for K-pop acts.

The music video quickly ascended to the top of YouTube’s trending video chart, reaching over 10 million views in half a day.

The rookie group’s official YouTube channel has seen a remarkable surge in subscribers, with the count now exceeding 3.55 million, showcasing the widespread anticipation and support for the budding ensemble.

The single also claimed the number one spot on the iTunes top songs chart in 21 regions. The success extended beyond borders, as the song conquered major music charts in Japan and China. Additionally, the track garnered 435,000 plays on Spotify on the day of its release.

Babymonster, a six-member multinational group, made their much-anticipated debut on Monday.

The launch of this new girl group marked a significant moment for YG Entertainment, being the first since the immensely popular Blackpink. The fervor surrounding their debut suggests that Babymonster is poised to make a substantial impact on the global music scene.
