A member of the public raised concerns about the safety of heavy vehicles transporting hazardous materials, such as large steel pipes or twisted steel bars.
He highlighted the risk of these materials becoming loose and falling off the vehicle, potentially causing damage to vehicles behind and serious injuries.
This issue was brought to light after observing a truck loaded with steel pipes that appeared to have no safety measures in place.
The observer felt compelled to maintain a significant distance from the truck, despite heavy traffic flow, fearing that a sudden brake could cause the steel pipes to dislodge and fall through the large gaps in the truck’s rear gate.
“This is not just based on my personal experience,” he stated, “but also on witnessing and hearing about similar incidents from other road users.
“Tied steel pipes have come loose due to impacts, causing loads to fall onto cars behind.
There was even an incident where a pipe broke through a car windscreen, fortunately with no passengers present at the time.”
The individual suggested that the authorities should conduct spot checks on these heavy vehicles and remind companies to practice safe transportation methods, unlike the example shown in the provided photograph. – Lyna Mohamad
