RIPAS Hospital begins operation of new MRI, CT scan machines

Two new diagnostic machines at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital began operations after an inauguration ceremony yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, the guest of honour, officiated the ceremony for the new 3.0 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and 128 Dual Source Computed Tomography (CT) machines at the RIPAS Hospital Department of Radiology.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the machines will improve the quality of MRI and CT imaging, efficiency of workflow and processes and offer greater comfort and safety for patients.

The machines use artificial Intelligence (AI) that automates the work process and makes the scanning more consistent, reproducible and faster.

Head of the Department of Radiology at RIPAS Hospital Dr Nor Lenny binti Abdullah said the new machines will further improve the quality of treatment services in the country.

The ceremony also marked the International Day of Radiology, which is celebrated every November 8 to commemorate the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. – James Kon
