The Brunei Islamic Finance (BIF) Summit 2023 highlights the immense potential of Islamic finance in paving the way to a more resilient and sustainable future, said Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) Managing Director Hajah Rokiah binti Haji Badar as Chairperson of Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF), during the launch of the summit.
The event, launched at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas on Monday, is part of Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition 2023 (Brunei MYCE 2023).
Hajah Rokiah said the summit features 30 local and international experts and speakers from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Tajikistan.
One of the speakers is Deputy Director of Islamic Financing at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance Dr Nana Riana whose team’s novel financing mechanism project on cash waqaf-linked sukuk earned the prestigious Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Prize for Impactful Achievement in Islamic Economics.
BIF Summit 2023, which ends today, is organised in collaboration with IsDB and World Bank Group with the support of BDCB.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani as representative of Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid as Chairman of BDCB; Islamic Development Bank Institute Acting Director General Dr Sami Al-Suwailem; and representative of the World Bank Group Radzuan Tajuddin attended the launch.
