Residents vote for three village heads

Three new village heads were elected by residents during voting through the PMKK e-Voting app starting on November 3 with physical ballots cast on Sunday at the multi-purpose hall at the Sungai Tali Primary School, Lumut.

The candidates were Haji Khairdon bin Haji Dahlan, Abdul Hafiz Ideris bin Haji Marmin and Mohamad Rosli bin Haji Jais; contesting for the position of Village Head of Kampong Lumut II, RPN Kampong Lumut Area 2, and RPN Kampong Lumut Area 3. The 54-year-old candidate for the Village Head of Kampong Lumut II was Haji Khairdon, an ‘O’ Level graduate, previously the acting village head of Kampong Lumut II and a retired Warrant Officer 2 Chief Clerk at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, 41-year-old Abdul Hafiz Ideris who ran for the position of RPN Kampong Lumut Area 2’s village head, is a Master of Science in Biomedical graduate from the University of Keele, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours) graduate from Kolej Universiti Teknologi dan Pengurusan Malaysia.

He is working as a Laboratory Technologist at the Department of Laboratory Services, Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the sole candidate for Village Head of RPN Kampong Lumut 3 was 48-year-old Mohamad Rosli, an ‘O’ Level graduate, working as a Class II staff at the TV, Magazine, and Publication Department at Radio Television Brunei, Prime Minister’s Office.

All three candidates held the majority of the votes in favour of them taking on their roles as  village heads.

The counting of the votes was overseen by Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, accompanied by Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman as well as a representative from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Mohammad Hazeeq bin Arsad.

The results will be presented to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA. – Daniel Lim
