Residents vote for penghulu, village head

Haji Hirulizam @ Khairulizam bin Haji Jefrey received the highest number of votes for the post of Mukim Kiudang penghulu while the sole candidate for Kampong Kiudang and Padnunok village head Muhammad Rifaie bin Haji Abdul Rahim @ Cyril Wong Selangkir received 203 votes out of 378. The voting was held at Kiudang Primary School Hall in the Tutong District.

The candidates for Mukim Kiudang penghulu post were Haji Hirulizam, 42; Muhammad Amir bin Haji Umar Ali, 54; Mohammad Refdie bin Haji Rosli, 33; and Masburah bin Suhaile, 48.

Of the 924 votes, 406 voted for Haji Hirulizam, 222 for Muhammad Amir, 202 for Masburah and 80 for Mohammad Refdie. Eleven did not vote for any candidate and three votes were spoilt.

Muhammad Rifaie, 48, received 203 votes out of 378 with 159 against and 16 spoilt votes.

Legislative Council member and Kampong Sengkarai Village Head Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan and Acting Tutong District Officer Awangku Arif Anuar bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad oversaw the election.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Kampong Birau Mosque Imam Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Razak.

The results will be forwarded to the Board of Appointment and Discipline for Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the Ministry of Home Affairs. – Lyna Mohamad
