Remembering the departed loved ones

A Tahlil ceremony enables family members to pray for their departed loved ones and fosters closer ties among themselves, said Legislative Council (LegCo) member and Kampong Sengkarai Village Head Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan during a Tahlil ceremony at Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam (PAHMA) Mosque in Kampong Sengkarai.

Also in attendance were Mukim Pekan Tutong Penghulu Salim bin Othman, Acting Kampong Petani Head Zambri bin Haji Ibrahim, PAHMA Mosque Imam Hafiy bin Yahya and Tutong District’s mosque affairs officer Haji Mohammad Aidil Sofian bin Mohammad Yassin.

Leading the recitation was PAHMA Mosque officer Abdul Raqib bin Haji Awang.

Meanwhile, Kampong Putat Mosque held its Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony on Sunday ahead of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim was the guest of honour, joined by LegCo members, Penghulu of Mukim Lumapas Yang Berhormat Amran bin Haji Maidin and Kampong Lumapas ‘B’ cum Village Head Yang Berhormat Mohamad Ali bin Tanjong.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of certificates to Al-Quran and Muqaddam readers who had completed their course and a handover of donations to orphans.

Prior to the event, villagers also held a cleaning campaign at Baong, Paluk and Kupang Muslim cemeteries.

Kampong Beribi I,II and III held a Tahlil ceremony and a cleaning campaign in collaboration with the Kampong Beribi Mosque Takmir Committee on Sunday.

The event was attended by Acting Village Head of Kampong Beribi I and III Haji Ali bin Haji Matassan and Acting Village Head of Kampong Beribi II Mohamad Faizal bin Haji Zaini along with villagers and the mosque’s takmir committee members.

The event began with a cleaning campaign at Kampong Beribi Muslim Cemetery in Jalan Bunga Jasmin.

The Tahlil ceremony was held at Kampong Beribi Mosque.

Meanwhile, the Kembara Bikers Association held a Tahlil ceremony last Friday alongside their first annual general meeting at Terazza Restaurant, Kampong Jerudong.

The event saw the appointment of new president Alias bin Haji Mohamad Salleh and deputy president Mohd Azery@ Qinon bin Haji Jalil.

Hasbee bin Haji Salam was elected the secretary general.

During the gathering, former president of the association, Haji Mohd Yazid bin Awang Aji handed over all documents to his successor.
