    Remembering the departed

    The Mosque Affairs Department at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the takmir committee of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for mosque youth nationwide in the month of Ramadhan to mark Tedarus Al-Quran.

    A Tahlil recitation was also held for Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim, the late son of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

    Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, along with Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and Permanent Secretary at MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim were present. Ra’es of Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang and Adviser of Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque takmir committee Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz were also in attendance.

    The event was held to appreciate Al-Quran and practise its teachings.

    Meanwhile, former officers and staff of the Information Department organised a Tahlil and Doa Arwah ceremony for the departed at a restaurant in Kampong Pintu Malim on Monday.

    Former officers and staff of Information Department at the Tahlil ceremony on Monday

    The event began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Brunei History Centre Principal Dr Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, who was also the director of the Information Department for four years from 2009-2012.

    Tahlil and Doa Arwah were led by Pengiran Haji Zahari bin Pengiran Adi.

    The gathering aimed to foster closer ties among former officers and staff while instilling the spirit of teamwork during welfare activities during Ramadhan.

    “We, the committee members express gratitude, where with a sincere agreement and consensus have once again been able to enrich the ceremony in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan,” explained secretary of the committee Haji Jaafar bin Haji Ibrahim.

    Insya Allah, we will hold more welfare and social programmes in the future,” he said.

    A Tahlil ceremony was also held yesterday by vendors and staff at Sumbangsih Mulia for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday. Among those present was Chairman of Sumbangsih Mulia Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.

    The recitation of Tahlil was led by former student of Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muaz Azizi bin Haji Shamshir.

    The event is an annual religious activity for Sumbangsih Mulia to glorify the holy month of Ramadhan and gain rewards from Allah the Almighty while conveying respect and love for the late royal members.
