The Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Family Counselling Services Division held a ‘Bisai Tah Berjemaah’ or ‘Let’s Perform Congregational Prayer’ programme at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital recently.
The agendas included a religious talk on ‘Congregational Prayer, Blessed Family: Sakinah Mawaddah and Rahmah’ by Assistant Lecturer at Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) Hilman bin Haji Salim.
The programme saw the participation of married couples, children and family members.
Acting Director of Syariah Affairs Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gemok and Acting Assistant Director of Syariah Affairs Ahmad Haziq bin Haji Abdul Hamid were also present at the gathering.
The programme was one of the department’s effort to lower the divorce rate in the Sultanate, in light of the findings from the Family Counselling Services Division and KUPU SB that found couples who made domestic household complaints engaged in the practice of prayer at a moderate level.
The programme’s objectives were to strengthen family motivation as an alternative method for solving household problems, improve and make use of spirituality as a turning point for husband and wife in conflict and educate family members with feelings of love while instilling respect for one another.
