Md Huzaimi bin Haji Jumat from Beribi Religious School and Juhaida binti Haji Tahamit from Jerudong International School Religious School emerged as winners in the men and women categories of the Murattal Al-Quran reading competition for religious officers and staff for Brunei Zone III at the Jerudong Religious School yesterday.

The event, organised by the Islamic Studies Department (JPI) through the Religious School Leadership Committee (JKPSSU) Brunei Zone III, also saw the recitation of Al-Quran verses from six participants – three male and three female – who qualified for the final stage of the competition. Mohd Zulzawawi bin Mazlan from Beribi Religious School also delivered a special performance of Al-Quran recital.

JPI Assistant Director (Corporate Services) Haslinah Susanti binti Haji Md Hassan presented prizes to the winners.

The event aimed to strengthen the ability to read Al-Quran and unearth the talents of reciters among religious teachers.

The competition is a continuation of the Tahsin Qira’atil Quran programme, implemented by JPI, to support the government in producing more readers of Al-Quran, in line with the aspiration of transforming the Sultanate into a Zikir Nation, as well as achieve Brunei Vision 2035. – Azlan Othman
