Religious ministers sign MoU on Halal sector cooperation

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the halal sector was signed during the 20th Informal Meeting of Religious Ministers of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) on Thursday.

The meeting in Singapore, saw the signing of the MoU between MABIMS member countries, said the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) in a statement.

The MoU covered the exchange of information and expertise in Halal certification as well as the exchange of research results and studies in Syariah, science and technical aspects of Halal.

The agreement reflected the strong understanding and bond of MABIMS countries in the development of Halal, said the MoRA.

The meeting also saw the launch of the Tafsir ‘Ilmi (Ayat-Ayat Kauniyyat), a joint publication by MABIMS in which Brunei Darussalam is the coordinating country.

The book describes the power, beauty and supremacy of Allah the Almighty from the perspective of Al-Quran through the Tafsir ‘Ilmi approach, said MoRA.

The meeting also discussed the progress of the 2021-2025 strategic plan as well as reaffirmed commitment to strengthen cooperation between member countries, including the development of digital platforms.
