    Religious events mark Israk Mikraj celebration

    Ministry of Finance and Economy

    The Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) held its annual Israk and Mikraj celebration for 1446 Hijrah yesterday at the Theatre Hall of the ministry’s building at Commonwealth Drive, Jalan Kebangsaan.

    Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah was present as guest of honour. Also in attendance were Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid; Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani; acting permanent secretaries, heads of departments and divisions, as well as officers and staff of MoFE and its departments.

    The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a special talk titled ‘Lessons from Israk and Mikraj’ delivered by Mosque Affairs Officer at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.

    The gathering, organised by the MoFE’s Trade Division, was part of its annual religious activities aimed at commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) night journey and ascension while fostering stronger ties among ministry officials and staff. – Fadley Faisal

    Ministry of Home Affairs

    In conjunction with the Israk Mikraj celebration for Hijrah 1446, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the departments under it held a religious celebration at the ministry’s premises yesterday.

    Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour at the event.

    The religious event commenced with the reading of the Tilawah Al-Quran Surah Al-Isra’ verses 1-8 read by Abdul Hanan bin Amir while the interpretation was read by Muhammad Haziq bin Hardi.

    The event was further enlivened with a special talk relating to Israk Mikraj with the topic ‘The Miracle of Prayer in Improving Memory, Relaxation and Building a Positive Mindset’ delivered by Siti Juhaidah binti Haji Bujang. Also present at the event were Legislative Council members; permanent secretaries; deputy permanent secretaries; head of departments; senior officers; officers and staff from departments under the ministry. – Fadhil Yunus

    Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports

    The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) through the Museums department yesterday hosted its Israk Mikraj celebration for for 1446 Hijrah at the Digadong Hall of the MCYS building.

    Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad was present as guest of honour.

    The ceremony began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by an officer (apprentice) from Finance and Administration Division of the ministry Muhammad Afif bin Ali. This was followed by reading of Al-Quran, Surah An-Najm, verses 13 to 18 by a visually impaired individual Mohammad Sufizan bin Sofian, while the interpretation was read by a person with different abilities Awangku Muhammad Amirul Faiq@Awangku Abdul Hakeem bin Pengiran Zali.

    A special talk on Israk Mikraj celebration was delivered by teaching officer at Counselling Division from Ministry of Education (MoE) Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam and concluded with the recitation of the Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

    Also present at the event were permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretary, heads of departments, directors, as well as officers and staff from the MCYS and departments under it. – James Kon

    Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali

    Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) marked the commemoration of Israk Mikraj for 1446 Hijrah with a special gathering yesterday at Surau Al-Syafi’i, UNISSA.

    UNISSA Rector Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal was the guest of honour.

    Also in attendance were the acting deputy rector, assistant rectors, senior officers, academic staff, and university personnel.

    The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil, led by Deputy Dean of Student Affairs Haji Mohammad Khairul Nazif bin Haji Awang Damit, followed by a doa recitation led by religious officer Pengiran Mohammad Daud bin Pengiran Matassan.

    The highlight of the event was a special tazkirah titled ‘Sembahyang Mencerdaskan Minda’ (Prayer Enhances Intelligence) delivered by Senior Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Usuluddin, UNISSA Dr Mohamed Fathy Mohamed Abdelgelil.

    The talk emphasised that prayer is not only a physical act of worship but also benefits mental and spiritual well-being. When performed with sincerity and focus, it provides peace of mind, enhances concentration, and purifies the heart. It also serves as a guiding light in life, strengthening mental resilience in overcoming challenges.

    The event aimed to commemorate miraculous journey of Prophet Muhammad’s (pbuh) Masjidil Haram to Masjidil Aqsa and his ascension to Sidratul Muntaha, highlighting Allah the Almighty’s greatness while deepening participants’ understanding of the lessons shared in the tazkirah. – Fadley Faisal
