Religious events enliven holy month

Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam

The Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held a Tahlil ceremony for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday.

The ceremony saw the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Muhamamd Syafie@Firdaus bin Tasad.

Ministry of Development

The Ministry of Development’s Nuzul Al-Quran celebration for 1445 Hijrah continued with the presentation of donations to orphans at the ministry’s Betabur Hall yesterday.

Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid was guest of honour at the event organised by the Town and Country Planning Department.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses and translations by Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah students Zainal Mustapa bin Jaluddin and Mohamed Norizyan Auni bin Haji Noriswandy.

The event saw Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan’s Fiqh Al-Usrah Research Centre assistant lecturer Hilman bin Haji Salim deliver a lecture on ‘Al-Quran Panduan Hidup’.

The minister then presented donations to 86 orphans.

Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development (MoD) Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) at the MoD Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Law) at the MoD Aldila binti Haji Mohamad Salleh were also present.

Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications

The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) hosted a Tedarus and Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the Brunei International Airport surau yesterday.

The ceremony, organised by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), began with a Zohor prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Al-Quran verses and Takhtim, led by Imam Haji Mohammad Ashraf bin Haji Bujang.

It continued with a presentation of certificates by Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha.

Permanent Secretary at the MTIC Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) at the MTIC Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport) at the MTIC Haji Mohammad Salihin bin Haji Aspar and AITI Chief Executive Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar were also present. – Azlan Othman
