The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) organised a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to commemorate the 19th National Youth Day celebration at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampong Rimba yesterday evening.
The event commenced with a mass Maghrib prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil, Doa Kesyukuran, Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam, Doa against COVID-19 and mass Isyak prayer.
Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos was among those present at the ceremony.
The Brunei Darussalam National Youth Day is celebrated to recognise and appreciate the youth by providing a platform to disseminate their successes at the national level, while also providing opportunities for youth to interact with each other and exchange views.
According to the MCYS, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is expected to grace the 19th National Youth Day’s general assembly at the International Convention Centre on August 7.
The general assembly will see a presentation of awards in four categories: Excellent Youth Award; the Meritorious Youth Service; Young Youth Leaders; and the Excellent Project for Youth (PCUB), and a two-day Youth Day exhibition from August 7-8. There will also be a religious activity on Saturday and a Friday sermon.
The 19th National Youth Day, themed ‘Future Ready Youth’, focuses on ‘Visionary Youth’ to highlightsthe importance of young people as the main pillar in the Sultanate.
It emphasises on preparing the youth with quality character, maintaining Bruneian values, and creating a dynamic, sustainable and inclusive development ecosystem.
The strategy includes united responsibility, practising Maqasid Syariah as a foundation, character building, and leveraging technology and digital skills. – James Kon & Azlan Othman
