The National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) conducted a Khatam Al-Quran on Friday in conjunction with International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT).

The ceremony took place at BASMIDA President Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali’s residence.

The event commenced with remarks by BASMIDA Vice President Hajah Linda Ain binti Abdullah followed by a speech by the president in her capacity as ceremony advisor.

Datin Hajah Masni said IDADAIT is not only commemorated by government agencies among the United Nations (UN) member states, but also non-governmental organisations and individuals who support efforts to control and combat drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The ceremony proceeded with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Sayyidul Istighfar led by Nur Aizat Yatimi binti Haji Shari followed with mass recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuha up to Surah An-Naas led by Hajah Norsinah binti Haji Hidup.

Nur Aizat Yatimi recited Doa Takhtim, while the president recited Doa Khatam and Hajah Zaliha binti Haji Mohamad Ali recited Doa Selamat, Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam and Doa Penutup Khatam.

In carrying out the religious activity, two BASMIDA members completed 30 juzuks of Al-Quran, while 54 members were assigned one juzuk each.
