A Doa Selamat for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) contingent with the Malaysian Battalion 850-11 (MALBATT 850-11) for United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission was held at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah attended the ceremony.
Service commanders, acting service commander, acting joint force commander, deputy permanent secretary at the MinDef, directors, commandants, Malaysian defence adviser to Brunei Darussalam, military and civilian senior officers, as well as officers and staff of the MinDef were also present.
The ceremony aimed to get blessings from Allah the Almighty for the protection and well-being of the RBAF contingent with MALBATT 850-11 and a smooth and successful execution throughout their mission in UNIFIL.
The contingent, led by Major Mohammad Hafizi bin Sabli, comprises 30 personnel comprising three officers and 27 other ranks and will be deployed for mission for 12 months. – Adib Noor
