Religious contest unearths Azan Subuh talents

Muhd Adib Nazhan bin Mohd Nasir from Haji Mohd Salleh Sungai Hanching Primary School emerged as the champion of an Azan Subuh competition for government primary schools for 1445 Hijrah, followed by Muhd Izz Haikal bin Alihan from Rimba III Primary School in second place and Muhd Radin Hadizul Khaliq bin Haji Muhd Azzatul Amin from Mabohai Primary School in third.

The competition was organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Programme and Academic Division, Department of Schools with the final stage of the competition held at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School yesterday. Director of Islamic Studies Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar was the guest of honour.

A total of 12 Year 3 students competed in the final stage.

The competition began in February at school and the cluster levels. The schools that competed in the final stage were Semabat Primary School, Pintu Malim Primary School, Haji Mohd Salleh Sungai Hanching Primary School, Mabohai Primary School, Rimba III Primary School, Pantai Berakas Primary School, Jerudong Primary School, Batang Mitus Primary School, Perpindahan Kampong Bukit Beruang II Primary School, Lamunin Primary School, Merangking Primary School and Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Mohd Yusof Primary School.

The competition’s objective was to raise awareness on azan and its importance as well as to give students the opportunity to showcase their talents in delivering azan.
