The World Meteorological Day is celebrated every March 23 to commemorate the enforcement of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) convention in 1950 of which the Sultanate is a member.

The day is also celebrated in recognition of the important contributions made by the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services in ensuring the safety and well-being of communities around the world. This year’s theme is ‘At the Frontline of Climate Action’.
