Religious ceremony marks Prince Malik’s 40th birthday

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Chairman of the Committee of Governors of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) graced a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony yesterday held in conjunction with His Royal Highness’ 40th birthday celebration.

The ceremony was held at An-Naura Hall of the Yayasan Complex.

On arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman as member of Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof as member of Yayasan Committee of Governors; Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof as Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar as Deputy Chairman of Yayasan Board of Directors, and Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak as Yayasan Acting Managing Director.

The ceremony commenced with mass Maghrib prayer and recitation of Surah Yaasiin, followed with a Doa Kesyukuran for His Royal Highness’ birthday celebration led by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mustapa bin Haji Murat and Isyak prayer.

His Royal Highness also cut a birthday cake and received a pesambah from Yayasan.

Leading at the highest level of Yayasan, His Royal Highness is concerned with the management and development of the foundation and often chairs committee of governors meetings, visits and is actively involved in its projects and activities.

In commemorating His Royal Highness’ 40th birthday, Yayasan held a presentation of financial assistance amounting to BND70,000 to organisations that conduct community outreach programmes.

The nine organisations that received aid from His Royal Highness were the Centre for Children with Special Needs (KACA), the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB), the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE), the Paraplegic and Physically Handicapped Association (PAPDA), the National Association for the Hearing Impaired (OKP), the Nurul Islam Association for Brunei-Muara District, the Tutong District New Converts Association (PESATU), the Belait District Sinar Islam Association and the Temburong District New Converts Association. – Rokiah Mahmud
