Religious ceremonies mark Crown Prince’s birthday

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) jointly held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony yesterday to mark the 50th birth anniversary of His Royal Highness Prince (Dr) Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, who is also Pro-Chancellor of the universities.

The event was attended by Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh as the guest of honour at University Mosque, Jalan Tungku Link.

Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin and Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Corporate) at the MoE Professor Dr Noor Azam bin Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman were also present at the ceremony.

The ceremony began with mass Maghrib and Sunnat Hajat prayers, followed by the mass recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Doa Kesyukuran, before concluding with a mass Isyak prayer.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) organised simultaneous events at all suraus under the ministry as well as the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) camps, including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque, with the focal point at Surau Ad-Difa’ of the Bolkiah Garrison. Present at the ceremony was Commander of RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan and the permanent secretary at the MinDef, along with senior leadership as well as staff and personnel of the MinDef.

The ceremony began with a mass Maghrib prayer, followed by the Sunnat Hajat prayer, the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and a Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with the royal birthday celebration, led by Director of RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, RBN.

The event concluded with a mass Isyak prayer, led by Imam Muhammad Habib ‘Azizi bin Muhammad Ghazali of Surau Ad-Difa’.

Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB) also marked the royal birthday, at its Student’s Learning and Service Centre (SLSC).

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman attended the event as the guest of honour.

Also in attendance were heads of departments, school leaders, deputy principals, officials from the MoE as well as MDPMAMB teaching staff and students.

The event began with mass Maghrib and Sunnat Hajat prayers, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and a Doa Kesyukuran.

A mass Isyak prayer marked the conclusion of the ceremony. – Azlan Othman
