The Rehlah Ilmiah programme this year saw the participation of 304 primary and secondary school students nationwide, at the Jerudong Park Mini Amphitheatre and the Jerudong Park Playground yesterday.
The programme, an education intervention initiative of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, aimed to produce disciplined, spiritual and balanced excellence in curriculum and co-curriculum activities.
The event began with a briefing by programme commandant Mohd Hazrin bin Daud followed by the recitation of Doa Selamat by Zulhafiz Zariq bin Damit and a brief motivational talk by Head of Yayasan Volunteers Group Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor.
Prior to the beginning of activities, students took part in a warm-up and proceeded to their Amazing Race activities.
The programme concluded with a visit to the petting zoo as well as participation in games at the park.
The programme aimed to motivate and strengthen the self-identity of the students of the tuition project for underprivileged students.
It also served to provide exposure and experience to the students and inculcate cooperation, strengthen ties among the students and teachers; and as a reward to appreciate the efforts of the students participating in the weekly tuition programme.
At the end of the programme, students were hoped to be bold, with leadership characteristics; proactive and creative; disciplined and responsible; have a cooperative and helpful attitude; and have confidence in their own capabilities.
