Reap rewards with Korban, say Imams

Rokiah Mahmud

Imams called for Muslims to perform Korban as the nation prepares to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha on July 10.

During the Friday Sermon, the Imams said that Korban, or the sacrificial slaughter of camels, goats, cows or buffaloes is a religious act that is glorified and respected. Korban will gladden the poor and destitute by sharing the blessings and provisions from Allah the Almighty.

Korban also generates a divine reward, said the imams, adding that wealth spent on the sacrificial slaughter will reap great returns in the form of goodness in this world as well as in the hereafter.

It also serves as a platform to shape praiseworthy attributes and noble Islamic values, said the Imams.
