The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department, recently uncovered cock fighting and katam-katam gambling activities at Kampong Panchong in the Tutong District.
Ten individuals comprising locals and foreign nationals, suspected of being involved in the gambling activities were detained, the RBPF said in a statement. Police also seized several chickens, katam-katam equipment and cash believed to be used for gambling activities.
The suspects and the seized items were brought to the Tutong Police Station for investigation.
The suspects will be charged under Section 7 of the Common Gaming House Act, Chapter 28 of gambling in public areas. The suspects if found guilty will face a fine of BND2,500 and six months’ imprisonment.
RBPF urged the public to provide information on criminal activities by contacting the hotline at 993 or the nearest police station. – James Kon
