Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) marked the 10th anniversary of the delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner in a ceremony yesterday, celebrating the major milestone as the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the aircraft.
“The entry of the Boeing 787 into our fleet not only played a significant role in our rebranding journey a decade ago, but the eco-friendly aircraft also served as a catalyst for our sustainability endevours,” said RB CEO Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid in a speech during the ceremony at the Brunei International Airport. The speech was delivered on his behalf by Acting Chief Operations Officer Haji Badarudin bin Haji Bagol.
“With its 25 per cent fuel savings, reduced emissions, and a remarkable 60 per cent reduction in noise compared to previous generation jets, the Boeing 787 has allowed RB to provide an unparalleled passenger experience and ensures a comfortable and peaceful journey for their passengers while minimising the environmental impact of air travel,” he said.
Meanwhile, Boeing Vice-President of Commercial Sales and Marketing (Southeast Asia and Oceania) Erika Pearson said, “As the first airline in Southeast Asia to operate the Dreamliner, this milestone is a tribute to RB’s dedication, professionalism and excellence.”
High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Laurence Bay Siow Hon and United States Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Caryn McClelland attended the event.
