Zahara Charity Foundation

Zahara Charity Foundation organised a Hari Raya celebration for orphaned children at The Emperor’s Court and Fun Blocks Edutainment yesterday.

Zahara Charity Foundation President Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Ruzaini bin Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Yakub presented donations to 80 orphans from the Brunei-Muara District.

The foundation indulged the children with games, cotton candy and play time at Fun Blocks Edutainment playground, ensuring a memorable experience.

Zahara Charity Foundation said it follows the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by extending love, fostering compassion and providing support to orphans.

Through events like the Hari Raya celebration, the foundation aims to create a positive impact and inspire others in creating an environment where orphaned children felt cherished, valued and a part of the community.

Syariah Courts

Syariah Courts of the State Judiciary Department at the Prime Minister’s Office held a Hari Raya celebration yesterday.

Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar attended the event.

Also present were panel of judges at Syariah Court of Appeal, Syariah High Court, Syar’ie judges, officers and Syariah Court staff.

The event saw activities including a presentation by the Syariah Courts workforce and a video presentation on Hari Raya greetings.

The annual event aims to forge closer ties among the workforce.


Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam

An Indonesian pianist drew the guests’ attention at the Friends of Indonesia Hari Raya hosted by Charge d’Affaires Ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Irwan Iding and spouse Jeni Junaeda. Friends of Indonesia from the business community as well as media influencers were invited.

Muhammad Ade Irawan, who is visually impaired, is a talented pianist recognised not only in the Indonesian music forum but also abroad, for his vast experience of playing alongside jazz and blues musicians in the United States. The pianist showcased his skills, playing requested songs, from jazz to Indonesian dangdut, as guests sang along.

Irwan Iding said the celebration was an opportunity for the embassy to establish stronger ties with guests from various backgrounds.

WeCare

Some 30 people attended WeCare’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with committee members and volunteers at the Kitchen of Jasmine restaurant in Jerudong recently.

WeCare Deputy President Siti Nurazimah binti Haji Hashim highlighted how WeCare’s activities have been recognised within and outside the country, and looks forward to recruiting new committee members to continue its humanitarian missions.

The ceremony saw a video showcasing WeCare projects from 2021 to 2023 and presentation of certificates of appreciation to committee members and volunteers for 2021 to 2023.

Datastream Digital (DST) Sdn Bhd held its first corporate Hari Raya celebration at Songket Ballroom, The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar; Minister of Transportation and Infocommunication Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha; DST Chairman Haji Sofian bin Jani attended the event.

Also present were DST board members, high commissioners of Bangladesh, Canada, India and Malaysia; ambassadors of Japan and the United States; government officials; and corporate associates and partners of DST.

Guests were welcomed by DST Chief Executive Officer Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni along with senior management and staff of DST.

The venue was decorated with Nyonya-themed designs and settings, including kain batik and rickshaw with other Hari Raya elements. The atmosphere was further enhanced by musical performances from local group PGSRMF Music Studio with arrangements of instrumental music comprising classic Hari Raya music and incorporating Nyonya style.

Guests were invited to take photos at the photo booth by the ballroom entrance.

DST also collaborated with local vendors to offer guests an assortment of desserts and cakes.

Former Radio Television Brunei personnel celebrated Hari Raya and re-established their years of friendship as colleagues at a restaurant in the capital on Sunday. Radio Brunei made its first broadcast on May 2, 1957, while official regular television services began on March 1, 1975.
