The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) recently presented donations to 38 muallaf (Muslim convert) families in Kampong Selapon, Temburong District at a ceremony.

Held at Kampong Selapon Religious Hall, it saw the distribution of BND200 zakat money, three bags of rice and iftar food to each underprivileged family.

MKM President Mohamed Yusof bin Shaik Abdul Halim said they first came to know of the community when they donated a trolley to assist the religious hall in funeral management.

“With the help of the imam, we did a check on the members of the community and found that many are converts and verified that they are in need of financial assistance,” said Mohamed Yusof.
