Raising HIV awareness among students

Fadley Faisal

New students at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Mechanical Campus recently attended a Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council (BDAIDS Council) HIV Awareness Programme for Peers and Youth (HAPPY) as part of their orientation programme.

HAPPY is a youth-led project that spreads HIV awareness including knowledge on teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The programme combines audio and visuals as well as an interactive activity that helps raise awareness among youth.

HAPPY Project Coordinator Siti Kailene binti Mohd Jazlan Kashfi delivered the talk.

She spoke on the latest local statistics on STIs and teenage pregnancies and said the figures can be curbed with abstinence from risky behaviour.
